मनुष्यगन्धदोष निवारणम्

1. Through the power of their asceticism, humans attain divinity and become renowned as the Ṛbhus, by the grace of Prajāpati.

2. Agni, Indra, and the Viśvadevas initially refused them the Soma drink. Then, impelled by the inspirer, the preceptor Savitṛ himself,

3. Prajāpati drank Soma along with them. Thus, the Ṛbhus attained fellowship (Sadhamaadatas) with the gods.

4. Since the gods abhorred them somewhat due to the human scent, let us strive to remove that taint of mortal fragrance.

5. Here, remembrance of the progenitor is fitting, and of the words 'mother' and 'father.' May Heaven and Earth, as declared by the Śruti, be aware, and Savitṛ, the preceptor.

6. (For those to whom the Mother)
The Earth, the creatrix, is the mother, and she swells with milk for them. The unyielding Heaven, with its mountain heights, swells with the nectarous honey.

7. May we praise those Ādityas, possessors of the strength of hymns, removers of drought. May the taint of human scent vanish from me, and may there be well-being for us.

8. (Thus to the Father)
Thus, through sacrifice, with oblations and reverence, may we serve. To this Father, the all-god, the protector, the leader.

9. O Bṛhaspati, showerer of blessings, O God, may we be by your grace, possessors of heroes, with excellent progeny, ever lords of riches.

10. May the taint of human scent vanish from me, and may there be well-being for us.
